Did you know that the Mazda Miata MX-5 is the World's Best
Selling Convertible? It is also the most commonly modified and
track-driven car in the world. The MX-5 is a Roadster, a form
of car that must have been created by kayakers. A Roadster is a
two-seat, convertible compact sports car designed for quick
cornering and making travel more fun. (like kayaks do)
This tiny, inexpensive, four cylinder, drop-top coupe captured the hearts of
driving enthusiasts everywhere with its simple, lightweight design
and classic roadster looks. The car handles like a dagger with
precision and ease. It moves like an extension of the driver's body
and it darts between obstacles and dashes around corners. (like
kayaks do)
Is it practical? Well, it is very fuel efficient and it makes my
wife enjoy the minor errands that used to plague her. The lack of a
back seat is an important feature. It makes sure you don't bring the
kids along. Surely, the Mazda Miata is the kayak of cars!
A kayak
is not specialized to carry huge amounts of cargo, it is specialized
to increase the mobility of the operator. A kayak focuses on
returning the joy of exploration to your life. Surely, the Mazda
Miata is the kayak of cars!

Mazda Miata History & Evolution
The Miata is also a melting pot car. Built by the Japanese, the MX-5
is a homage to the small British roadsters of the 1960's and carries
a name that means 'reward' in Old High German. The first generation
of the MX-5 ran from 1989 through 1997 and they are recognizable by
their nifty pop-up headlights. Later generations of the Miata added
some small comforts and a bit more horsepower, but they kept the
changes to a minimum. Like kayaks, the Miata offers a clear
demonstration of have 'less is more'.
When the Mazda MX-5 Miata debuted in 1989, this little convertible
marked the revival of the affordable roadster. Now, those roadsters
are more affordable than ever. You can easily buy yourself a
first generation Miata for a few thousand dollars and the newest
models are pretty reasonable too. Although, these cars are starting
to show their age, they are still young enough to offer important
features like air conditioning, fuel-injection and electronic
ignition. This makes them much more fun to own than the actual
British sports cars of the 60's!
The 1st generation of Miata MX-5 (called the NA) included a special
edition in 1991 which was produced in British Racing Green with the
first use of tan interior. A total of 12,470 M Editions were
manufactured throughout the 4 year run ending in 1997. Visit
The Miata M-Edition Field Guide for more information on the
elusive and wonderful Miata M-Edition.

"The fact is that if you want a sports car, the MX-5 is perfect.
Nothing on the road will give you better value. Nothing will give

I can’t give it 14." - Jeremy Clarkson (Top Gear)
